MANILA, Philippines — Locally founded equipment company Team Rebel Sports is on a mission to provide regular Filipinos with quality apparel at an affordable price.

Since its inception in 1998, Team Rebel Sports founder Joel Cu has served the needs of everyday sports fans nationwide by providing fully customized jerseys for popular sports like basketball, volleyball- ball, badminton and cycling.

Now Cu and his band have kicked things into high gear with a brand new partnership with local sports store Toby’s, where they’re taking part in the store’s Custom Lab project.

By making a range of their products available at every Toby’s branch, Team Rebel offers local sports communities an easy option to create their own fully customized jerseys for their respective local leagues.

“[Toby’s] wanted someone to help them with Toby’s Custom Lab. Nung nakita nila yung show room namin, meron kaming printer duon na on site, nag-offer sila na kung pwede makipag-joint venture kami and i said yes,” said Cu, who also revealed that Team Rebel is a partner of Toby’s since the 1980s.

Through their partnership with Toby’s, teams can have fully custom jerseys made in just three days through the service. A minimum order of 10 uniforms per team is set, with the Custom Lab also offering design services for its clients.

After using the export market to bounce back from initial losses at the start of the business, Cu said Team Rebel has now taken steps to step up its services to local communities.

“Since 2017, we have launched aggressive kami in the local market. Kung napansin niyo, we have sponsored many teams.” said Cu.

Team Rebel is the current supplier of local volleyball league Shakey’s Super League. They also supply jerseys to clubs like San Miguel in the PBA 3×3 and the UAI Army Lady Troopers in the Premier Volleyball League.

Although they are focused on making their mark in organized sports through leagues, Cu said they are also keen to support small community sports like tournaments run by local government units.

“Kasi ang Team Rebel naman, it’s one of our core values is to support the young kung nasan kami community through sports,” Cu said.

In addition to growing his business, the sports entrepreneur also said he was looking to provide the best for his own employees through the partnership with Toby’s.

His commitment to sharing the goods with his workers is a promise he seeks to keep with customers who would support Toby’s custom lab.

“Negosyo kaming maraming tao, kung nakikita niyo 200 plus kami. So marami kaming inaalagaang tao, so yung business naman namin hindi mo naman masasabing multi-billion business pero it’s like a family of mga tao… It’s already a community,” Cu said.

“Sigurado din po sila marami ring tao silang natutulungan katulad ng mga pamilya ng mga tauhan namin,” he added.

In addition to fully customized jerseys, the joint venture between Team Rebel and Toby’s offers a print-on-demand service at Toby’s flagship store in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.

The service can provide each customer with a quality print on their clothes with any clothes and designs they want.
