TAYLOR COUNTY— The Taylor County Storm U12 men’s football team ended their season with impressive stats.
Throughout the regular season, the Storm faced teams from Harrison, Preston, Barbour and Monongalia counties, facing stiff competition.
However, the Taylor County team managed to hold on and clinch the victory, ending the regular season with a perfect 12-0 record.
Even more impressive, throughout the season, the Storm, with solid defense and sensational regular goalie Braydon Taylor defending the net for the Taylor County team, only allowed their opponents to score three goals.
Coach Ryan Stallings noted that while Taylor was in goal for the Storm, he didn’t allow any goals in regular season games.
And not only did the team dominate defensively, but they also displayed remarkable offensive ability, collectively accumulating 90 goals in the regular season.
Stallings shared that the team also played in a “Kick or Treat” tournament held in Summersville.
The tournament was a fun one-day event hosted by Nicholas County Youth Soccer where teams donned a Halloween-themed outfit.
The Storm opted to wear camouflage jerseys for the event, as they were “goal-chasing”.
The Storm finished the tournament in a respectable second place with a 3-1 record, with a 5-2 goal differential.
After the postseason games, the team finished the season scoring 95 total goals, allowing only five to be scored and had an overall record of 15-1.
Team members include Bryton Andrews, Jaymison Bass, Noah Blue, Carsyn Dodd, Owen Everett, Jesse Gallagher, Erik Gunter, Tyson Lowry, Colin McCarthy, Sawyer Stallings, Dylan Stead, Jayden Steadman and Braydon Taylor.
The U12 Storm is coached by Stallings, Bryant McCarthy and Kevin Stead.
“They wanted to reach 100 goals but didn’t succeed. We are proud of this team and the bond they have formed over the past few years, ”said Stead.
