“I’m a hockey fan, I know the CHL and most of their teams and it’s really cool for them to trust me to do this.
The shirts will be worn for Saturday’s match only and will be auctioned online. Bidding has already started and will end at noon on March 19. Any unpurchased jerseys will be available for silent auction in the Johnny Bower Lobby during the game.
Des Rivières said he can’t wait to see his design take to the ice.
“It’s really cool to finally see something you’ve done in real life. I don’t really see the results because I just send the drawing and they do whatever they want with it or they print it.
“They (the Raiders) sent me a jersey, it’s in my room. It’s really cool to see. I saw pictures of the pucks they’re going to use for the game. It’s really awesome.
Since the shirts were unveiled earlier this month, fans have reacted positively to the new look, with many requesting that they be a permanent shirt for the team.
Comments like that only bring joy to Des Rivières.
“I was reading a lot of comments online and saw a lot of positive ones which made me really happy.
“I’m really happy that people like the shirt as much as they do and I was really happy to make this shirt for them and I’m happy that I didn’t disappoint the fans.”
The Raiders will don the new jersey as they host the Saskatoon Blades on Saturday night at the Art Hauser Centre.
The puck drop is at 7:00 p.m. and you can catch the action with Rob Mahon on 900 CKBI.
