The Packers held off the Browns 24-22 on Saturday thanks to an interception from the cornerback Rasul douglas in the last minute and there was a lot of anger on the Browns’ side about the lack of a penalty flag on Douglas on play.
Strategist Baker Mayfield and intended recipient Donovan Peoples-Jones both urged officials to report to Douglas for making contact before the pass arrived, but their calls fell on deaf ears. The interception was Mayfield’s fourth of the game and he said after the game that officials couldn’t be relied on making calls at this location.
“Little contact, but we can’t bet on whose name is“Mayfield said via 92.3 The Fan.
Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said he thought there was a ‘draw’ in the game
“I understand that officials won’t get all calls, but in great times like this, it’s hard“Stefanski said.
The Browns also had a tough loss last Monday and the two losses leave them at 7-8 heading into the final two weeks of the season. That doesn’t close the door to the playoffs, but they’ll need some help securing wins over the Steelers and Bengals to find their way back to the playoffs.
